First Impressions

When I first spotted Tres Cocos Resort about half a mile north of the main bridge in San Pedro, I knew I’d found something special. This four-star property sits right on the ocean side of Ambergris Caye, and honestly — the setting is just stunning. You know what struck me immediately? How peaceful it feels despite being close enough to town that you can easily walk or bike to everything. The resort has this laid-back Caribbean vibe that makes you want to slow down the moment you arrive.

Location & Getting Around

The location is honestly perfect for couples — and I can see why guests rate it so highly for romantic getaways. You’re far enough from the busier parts of San Pedro to feel like you’re in your own little world, but close enough that a quick golf cart ride gets you to restaurants, bars, and shops. I mean, this is Belize — golf carts are basically the main transportation here, and it’s actually pretty fun. The resort offers free private parking too, which is great if you’re renting a car to explore other parts of the island.

The Accommodations

My room faced the ocean, and waking up to those Caribbean views never got old. The accommodations are comfortable without being overly fancy — think clean lines, tropical touches, and everything you actually need for a beach vacation. The air conditioning works well (crucial in Belize’s humidity), and I appreciated having a mini-fridge to keep drinks cold. What I loved most was the private balcony where I could sit with my morning coffee and watch the boats heading out for diving trips.

Beach & Activities

The beach access is what really sets this place apart. You’re literally steps from some of the clearest water I’ve ever seen, and the snorkeling right off the shore is surprisingly good. I saw parrotfish, angelfish, and even a small nurse shark during one of my swims. The resort isn’t huge, so the beach never feels crowded — even during peak season, there’s plenty of space to find your own spot. If you’re into diving or fishing, the staff can easily arrange trips, and most operators pick up right from the resort’s dock.

Why Guests Love It

What keeps people coming back here is the combination of tranquility and accessibility. You get that secluded resort feeling without being completely cut off from the action in San Pedro. The staff genuinely cares about making your stay memorable — they remember your name, your drink preferences, and they’re full of local recommendations. Plus, the value is solid for what you get. It’s not the cheapest option on Ambergris Caye, but for a beachfront resort with this kind of location and service, the price feels fair. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was planning a romantic trip or just wanted to unwind somewhere beautiful.

  I love when I book a place and it looks just like the pictures! We had an ocean front room (though I didn't recall booking a two-bedroom – so I overpaid for that – we just needed the one). The apartment was well-appointed – and the bed was comfortable. Lots of towels and they would replace them whenever you requested! Also came with big 5 gal jug of water that they replaced as needed, too. The restaurant on site was great – and the one up the beach too. The pool is small but perfect. I loved this location, too.

  Peaceful, oceanfront location just north of the bridge. Close enough to town (still need a golf cart). Excellent service from the staff. Great showers with plenty of hot water. Good dive shop. Will stay there again.

  The location was perfect; so easy to get around on the golf cart (that was on site when we arrived.) The paid option of having beer and water stocked in the refrigerator prior to our arrival was a bonus. Tres Cocos had excellent communication with me months prior to the trip when I wanted to confirm the amenities that were available in the unit. The Dog House restaurant on the property was delicious and convenient. We like the option of asking for housekeeping (full or partial) during our stay. We did 1 full cleaning in the middle of our week there. The quiet hours were honored by the other guests. We were absolutely delighted with our stay.

  The property is right on the beach, can be easily navigated. The hotel office, the parking lot, the room, the beach, the pool, and The Dog House were all a 1 minute walk or less. It’s all very convenient and beautiful. The Dog House was a wonderful restaurant- we ate there at least 6 times and all the food was delicious. It’s casual with friendly and extremely personable bar staff who learned our names. The property is just a few minutes from other great restaurants and it’s a very quick ride to the bridge into town. The beach in front of the hotel was raked every morning, so the seaweed was minimal and very manageable in February. We even found a few shells!
  
  The office staff were impressively responsive on WhatsApp. They helped me have an effortless, relaxing, and enjoyable vacation during a tremendously difficult time in my life. It turned out to be my personal favorite vacation ever. Tres Cocos staff took care of my Tropic Air round trip flights, my golf cart rental for the week, my from and back to the airport – not because of my recent loss; this is just what they do. I was so grateful and relieved that they took all of this off my plate. The whole thing went off without a hitch; a very good system!
