Pelican Reef Villas Resort Overview

First Impressions

You know what hits you first at Pelican Reef Villas Resort? It’s not just another beachfront property trying too hard to impress. This four-star resort in San Pedro has this relaxed, authentic Caribbean vibe that feels genuinely Belizean — not like some cookie-cutter tropical resort. The moment you arrive in Holiday Lands, you realize you’ve found something special. The staff greets you with that warm Belizean hospitality that’s impossible to fake, and honestly, the whole place just feels right.

Location & Setting

San Pedro is already a gem on Ambergris Caye, but Pelican Reef Villas Resort sits in what I’d call the sweet spot. You’re close enough to town that you can easily explore the local restaurants and bars (Golf Cart Café is a must), but far enough out that you actually get some peace and quiet. The resort faces the Caribbean Sea directly — I mean, you literally step from your villa onto the beach. Couples absolutely love it here, and I can see why. There’s something about watching the sunrise over the water from your private deck that just works for romance.

The Villas

Here’s where this place really shines — the beds are incredibly comfortable, and that’s not just marketing speak. After spending days snorkeling at Hol Chan or exploring Mayan ruins, you’ll appreciate sinking into these mattresses. The villas themselves are spacious and well-designed, with kitchenettes that actually come in handy (grocery shopping in San Pedro can be an adventure, but it’s totally doable). Each unit has its own character, and the oceanfront ones — well, let’s just say waking up to that view never gets old.

Dining & Amenities

The breakfast situation here is actually impressive. They’ve got everything covered — continental, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free options, plus proper American breakfast if that’s your thing. You can even grab breakfast to go, which is perfect when you’ve got an early dive trip planned. The kitchen staff really knows what they’re doing, and they’re happy to accommodate dietary restrictions without making a big fuss about it. Plus, there’s free parking right on-site, which might not sound exciting but trust me — in a place where golf carts are the main transportation, having secure parking for your rental car is actually pretty valuable.

Why Guests Love It

What keeps people coming back to Pelican Reef Villas Resort isn’t any single thing — it’s how everything comes together. The location gets consistently high marks because it strikes that perfect balance between accessibility and tranquility. You’re in Belize to experience the barrier reef, the culture, the laid-back island life, and this place lets you do all of that without compromising on comfort. The fact that it maintains such high ratings speaks to the consistency of the experience. It’s the kind of place where you can spend your days exploring and your evenings just enjoying the sound of waves from your deck.

To book hotel in Belize for Great Blue Hole dives, travelers grab reef-view balconies mixing dawn snorkels with sunset rum punch.

Reviews of Pelican Reef Villas Resort

Great property in a quiet part of San Pedro!!. The views from the dock were amazing. Watching the sunrise every morning on the beach was so peaceful. The rooms are large, modern, and very clean. The breakfast is amazing and staff are very friendly. Wifi worked well around the property. The private dock was helpful since any fishing, snorkeling or diving tours picked you up at the property.

We've stayed at Pelican Reef once before, and let's just say…when my daughter graduated from high school, and we gave her the option of a graduation trip, she chose to come back to Belize and Pelican Reef. It's clean, a great location, and comfortable. The staff makes you feel like family. The service, the smiles, and really…it's their attention to details without being overly "bougie" and entitled. We feel compelled to bring them gifts because well, we just LIKE them as PEOPLE.

We have stayed here three times. The staff is phenomenal, very friendly and accommodating. There are only 16 units so it does not get overcrowded. if you do not plan on staying solely at the resort, you will need to rent a golf cart to travel to restaurants, shopping or site seeing. There are a few restaurants and bars within walking distance. Otherwise you can take a taxi. I recommend renting a cart or getting a taxi, making reservations or planning fishing or day trips through pelican reef. The first time we stayed here, I made the mistake of making all reservations on my own which resulted in me paying more for the golf cart and waiting longer at restaurants. Pelican reef has pull in the community and you’re taken well care of with all the business’ they book through. if you stay at the resort they have paddle boards, kayaks, full bar, and a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch but not dinner. breakfast and lunch is very good. The condo was very nice and well equipped with washer, dryer, Iron, coffee maker, laundry, and dishwasher detergent, full kitchen with all utensils, glasses, and blender.

We had a wonderful stay at this property. As I understand it, private condos are managed by a company. It was quiet and beautiful, clean and well-maintained. A dock with hammocks, beach chairs and a small, rocky reef for snorkeling. Pretty little pool. The staff were excellent. Tristan, the concierge(?), was especially helpful and courteous. He helped us arrange a number of amenities (shuttle, golf cart, delivery dinner, dive outing).
