Located about half a mile north of the main bridge in San Pedro, this four-star property sits right on the ocean side of Ambergris Caye — and honestly, the setting alone is worth the trip. The moment you step out of your golf cart (because let’s be real, that’s how you’re getting around here), you’re hit with this perfect blend of Caribbean charm and upscale comfort that feels both polished and genuinely welcoming.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I love about where Tres Cocos Resort sits — you’re close enough to San Pedro’s action that a quick golf cart ride gets you to restaurants and bars, but far enough out that you actually feel like you’re on a tropical island retreat. The resort provides free private parking, which is actually a bigger deal than it sounds since parking can be tricky in this area. Being on the ocean side means you wake up to Caribbean views, and couples absolutely rave about this spot — I can see why they rate the location so highly for romantic getaways.

The Accommodations

The rooms here strike that sweet spot between comfort and island style that’s harder to find than you’d think. Everything feels thoughtfully designed rather than just thrown together — the kind of place where someone clearly cared about details like having enough outlets near the bed and making sure the air conditioning actually works well (trust me, this matters in Belize). The ocean-facing rooms are obviously the prize, but even if you don’t snag one of those, the property is small enough that you’re never far from those stunning water views.

The Resort Experience

What sets Tres Cocos apart from some of the bigger resorts on the island is this more intimate, personal feel — you’re not just another room number here. The staff genuinely seems to know guests by name after a day or two, which creates this relaxed, almost house-party vibe that I found really appealing. The property itself is beautifully maintained without feeling overly manicured, if that makes sense. You’ve got direct beach access, which means you can literally roll out of bed and onto the sand, and the snorkeling right off the beach is actually pretty decent.

Why Guests Love It

After spending time here, I totally understand why this place consistently gets such high ratings — it’s that rare combination of great location, solid amenities, and genuine hospitality that makes you want to extend your stay. The fact that couples rate it so highly tells you something about the romantic atmosphere, but honestly, I think anyone looking for a more refined island experience would be happy here. It’s upscale enough that you feel pampered, but still has that authentic Belizean character that makes you remember you’re somewhere special. Plus, being able to easily explore San Pedro while having this peaceful retreat to return to? That’s pretty much the perfect setup for an Ambergris Caye vacation.

  I love when I book a place and it looks just like the pictures! We had an ocean front room (though I didn't recall booking a two-bedroom – so I overpaid for that – we just needed the one). The apartment was well-appointed – and the bed was comfortable. Lots of towels and they would replace them whenever you requested! Also came with big 5 gal jug of water that they replaced as needed, too. The restaurant on site was great – and the one up the beach too. The pool is small but perfect. I loved this location, too.

  Peaceful, oceanfront location just north of the bridge. Close enough to town (still need a golf cart). Excellent service from the staff. Great showers with plenty of hot water. Good dive shop. Will stay there again.

  The location was perfect; so easy to get around on the golf cart (that was on site when we arrived.) The paid option of having beer and water stocked in the refrigerator prior to our arrival was a bonus. Tres Cocos had excellent communication with me months prior to the trip when I wanted to confirm the amenities that were available in the unit. The Dog House restaurant on the property was delicious and convenient. We like the option of asking for housekeeping (full or partial) during our stay. We did 1 full cleaning in the middle of our week there. The quiet hours were honored by the other guests. We were absolutely delighted with our stay.

  The property is right on the beach, can be easily navigated. The hotel office, the parking lot, the room, the beach, the pool, and The Dog House were all a 1 minute walk or less. It’s all very convenient and beautiful. The Dog House was a wonderful restaurant- we ate there at least 6 times and all the food was delicious. It’s casual with friendly and extremely personable bar staff who learned our names. The property is just a few minutes from other great restaurants and it’s a very quick ride to the bridge into town. The beach in front of the hotel was raked every morning, so the seaweed was minimal and very manageable in February. We even found a few shells!
  
  The office staff were impressively responsive on WhatsApp. They helped me have an effortless, relaxing, and enjoyable vacation during a tremendously difficult time in my life. It turned out to be my personal favorite vacation ever. Tres Cocos staff took care of my Tropic Air round trip flights, my golf cart rental for the week, my from and back to the airport – not because of my recent loss; this is just what they do. I was so grateful and relieved that they took all of this off my plate. The whole thing went off without a hitch; a very good system!
