Pelican Reef Villas Resort Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Pelican Reef Villas Resort feels like discovering a well-kept secret on Ambergris Caye. This four-star property sits right in the Holiday Lands area of San Pedro, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better — you’re close enough to town to grab dinner or explore, but far enough away that you actually get some peace. The resort has this laid-back Caribbean vibe that hits you immediately, with palm trees swaying and the sound of waves just steps away from your door.

The Villas

Each villa here is basically like having your own little beach house, which is exactly what you want in Belize. The room is spacious and thoughtfully designed, with those incredibly comfortable beds that guests keep raving about — and I mean, after a day of snorkeling or exploring the island, you really appreciate sinking into something that soft. Most villas come with a kitchen setup, which is actually pretty handy since you can grab fresh fish from the local market and cook it yourself. The decor strikes that perfect balance between tropical charm and modern comfort without feeling too fancy or overdone.

Location and Island Life

What I love about this spot is how it puts you right in the sweet spot of San Pedro life. You’re literally a short golf cart ride (that’s how everyone gets around here, by the way) from the main strip with its bars and restaurants, but you’re also positioned perfectly for water activities. The resort sits on a gorgeous stretch of beach where the water is that incredible Caribbean blue-green, and you can walk right out for swimming or snorkeling. Couples especially seem to love this location — there’s something romantic about having your own slice of beachfront without the crowds you’d find at some of the bigger resorts.

Dining and Amenities

The breakfast situation here is actually impressive — they’ve got everything from continental options to full American breakfast, plus they accommodate pretty much any dietary restriction you can think of. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free — they’ve got you covered, which isn’t always easy to find in smaller Caribbean destinations. There’s also a restaurant on-site that serves solid local and international dishes, though honestly, part of the fun of staying here is exploring San Pedro’s food scene. The free parking is a nice touch too, especially if you decide to rent a car for exploring the mainland.

Why Guests Love It

This place consistently gets rave reviews, and after spending time here, I totally get why. It’s that rare combination of being well-located without feeling touristy, comfortable without being stuffy, and authentic without sacrificing modern conveniences. The staff genuinely cares about making your stay memorable, and you can tell they take pride in showing off this beautiful part of Belize. Whether you’re planning romantic getaways, diving trips, or just want to unwind somewhere gorgeous, Pelican Reef Villas delivers that perfect Caribbean experience that feels both special and real.

To book hotel in Belize for Great Blue Hole dives, travelers grab reef-view balconies mixing dawn snorkels with sunset rum punch.

Reviews of Pelican Reef Villas Resort

Great property in a quiet part of San Pedro!!. The views from the dock were amazing. Watching the sunrise every morning on the beach was so peaceful. The rooms are large, modern, and very clean. The breakfast is amazing and staff are very friendly. Wifi worked well around the property. The private dock was helpful since any fishing, snorkeling or diving tours picked you up at the property.

We've stayed at Pelican Reef once before, and let's just say…when my daughter graduated from high school, and we gave her the option of a graduation trip, she chose to come back to Belize and Pelican Reef. It's clean, a great location, and comfortable. The staff makes you feel like family. The service, the smiles, and really…it's their attention to details without being overly "bougie" and entitled. We feel compelled to bring them gifts because well, we just LIKE them as PEOPLE.

We have stayed here three times. The staff is phenomenal, very friendly and accommodating. There are only 16 units so it does not get overcrowded. if you do not plan on staying solely at the resort, you will need to rent a golf cart to travel to restaurants, shopping or site seeing. There are a few restaurants and bars within walking distance. Otherwise you can take a taxi. I recommend renting a cart or getting a taxi, making reservations or planning fishing or day trips through pelican reef. The first time we stayed here, I made the mistake of making all reservations on my own which resulted in me paying more for the golf cart and waiting longer at restaurants. Pelican reef has pull in the community and you’re taken well care of with all the business’ they book through. if you stay at the resort they have paddle boards, kayaks, full bar, and a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch but not dinner. breakfast and lunch is very good. The condo was very nice and well equipped with washer, dryer, Iron, coffee maker, laundry, and dishwasher detergent, full kitchen with all utensils, glasses, and blender.

We had a wonderful stay at this property. As I understand it, private condos are managed by a company. It was quiet and beautiful, clean and well-maintained. A dock with hammocks, beach chairs and a small, rocky reef for snorkeling. Pretty little pool. The staff were excellent. Tristan, the concierge(?), was especially helpful and courteous. He helped us arrange a number of amenities (shuttle, golf cart, delivery dinner, dive outing).
