When I first pulled up to Las Terrazas Resort on Ambergris Caye, I honestly wasn’t prepared for how stunning this place would be. This five-star luxury resort sits right on the edge of San Pedro, and you know what hits you first? The way the Caribbean stretches endlessly in front of you — it’s the kind of view that makes you forget you have emails waiting back home. The staff greeted me with fresh towels and cold drinks before I even made it through the lobby, which I mean, that’s exactly the kind of attention you want when you’re paying for luxury.

The Perfect Island Location

What I love about this spot is that you’re close enough to San Pedro’s action but far enough away that you won’t hear golf carts rumbling by at midnight. The resort actually provides free private parking on site, which might sound silly until you realize how rare that is on the island — most places make you figure out street parking or charge extra. You can walk to some great local spots for dinner, or honestly, just stay put because the resort’s restaurant serves some of the best conch fritters I’ve had in Belize. The fishing here is incredible too, and they’ll set you up with everything you need.

Luxury Accommodations Done Right

My room was one of those spaces that makes you want to extend your stay immediately. Floor-to-ceiling windows, a private terrace that felt like my own slice of paradise, and — this is important — air conditioning that actually works (you’d be surprised how many Caribbean hotels mess this up). The bathroom was spacious with a rainfall shower, and the bed was so comfortable I slept better than I have in months. Everything felt thoughtfully designed, from the local artwork to the way the furniture was arranged to maximize those ocean views.

Activities and Relaxation

The spa here is something special — I booked a massage on my second day and ended up going back twice more. They use local ingredients like coconut oil and sea salt, and the treatment rooms overlook the water. When you’re not getting pampered, there’s a game room that’s perfect for rainy afternoons, though honestly, I spent most of my time either fishing or just lounging by the infinity pool. The fishing excursions they arrange are top-notch — our guide knew exactly where to find tarpon, and we caught more than enough for a beach barbecue that evening.

Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of resorts in the Caribbean, and Las Terrazas gets the balance right between luxury and authenticity. The service feels personal rather than scripted, the food showcases local flavors without trying too hard, and the whole place has this relaxed elegance that makes you feel like you’re staying at a friend’s incredibly nice beach house. Couples especially seem to gravitate here — I saw plenty of romantic dinners happening on private terraces, and the staff clearly knows how to make special occasions feel even more special. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself planning your next visit before you’ve even checked out.

  Once I arrived at actual hotel..I prefer Las Terrazas room I had over other. Amenities are broader. But the cost and the essentials in the room are better at Las Terrzas.
