Corona del Mar Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Corona del Mar, I’ll be honest — it’s not the kind of place that screams high-end resort appeal from the street. This three-star property on Ambergris Caye has more of a laid-back, authentic Caribbean vibe than polished resort glamour. But you know what? That’s exactly what makes it work. The free parking right on-site is actually a huge deal here in San Pedro, where finding a decent spot for your golf cart (the main transport around here) can be surprisingly tricky.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about Corona del Mar’s location — it’s genuinely fantastic, and the 8.8 rating from couples isn’t just marketing fluff. You’re close enough to San Pedro’s main drag that you can walk to restaurants and bars without breaking a sweat, but far enough away that you won’t hear drunk tourists stumbling home at 3 AM. I mean, when you’re on a small island like Ambergris Caye, location is everything since you can’t exactly escape to another neighborhood if things get too rowdy.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was clean and functional — think comfortable beach accommodation rather than Instagram-worthy elegance. The air conditioning works well (crucial in Belize’s humidity), and honestly, that matters more than fancy linens when you’re dealing with 85-degree nights. What I appreciated most was how quiet it gets once you close the door. The walls are thick enough that you’re not hearing every conversation from neighboring rooms, which can be hit-or-miss at this price point in Central America.
Island Life Practicalities
Corona del Mar gets the practical stuff right, which is harder than it sounds on a small island. The water pressure is decent, the WiFi actually works when you need it, and the staff knows the area well enough to give you real recommendations — not just the tourist trap suggestions. They pointed me toward a local restaurant that I never would have found otherwise, tucked away from the main tourist strip but serving some of the best conch fritters I’ve had in Belize.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Corona del Mar isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and that’s refreshing. It’s a solid, no-nonsense base for exploring Ambergris Caye without the inflated prices you’ll find at the beachfront resorts. The 7.7 overall rating feels about right — it’s good, reliable accommodation that lets you focus on why you came to Belize in the first place. Whether that’s diving the Blue Hole, exploring Mayan ruins, or just soaking up the Caribbean atmosphere, you’ll have a comfortable place to crash without your wallet taking a beating. Plus, being popular with couples means it tends to stay relatively peaceful, which is exactly what you want after a long day of island adventures.
Hotels in Belize fringe coral cays, jungle rivers, and pastel colonial streets humming with marimba beats.

Was great to have a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker in the room so I could have some snacks for late nights and early mornings. (Belize restaurants are expensive! Save money by going to Island City Supermarket or Walk Mart to get food.) There was free coffee in the lobby too.
The staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful.
Located right on the beach, although there is a seawall with stairs you need to climb down to get in the sea. Shallow water, some fishies swimming, and I saw a stingray. Chairs and hammocks to relax on. Nice little pool that wasn't very busy during my stay.
Diving company right in front of the hotel, but I booked with Searious Adventures cuz they were cheaper.Jenny from United States (9/10)
Every one that works there was so helpful in every way possible. We appreciate the location being within walking distance of a lot of things. The resort and rooms were very clean and the food was great.
