When I first pulled up to Caye Casa, honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from a three-star property on Ambergris Caye. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in understated packages. This beachfront spot sits right on the sand in San Pedro, and there’s something refreshingly authentic about it — no flashy lobby or over-the-top décor, just a genuine island vibe that feels like you’re staying at a friend’s beach house rather than a commercial hotel.

The Location Magic

I mean, the location here is actually incredible, and I’m not just saying that because of the 9.7 rating it gets from guests. You’re literally steps from the Caribbean, but what I really love is how it’s positioned — close enough to San Pedro’s main strip that you can walk to restaurants and bars, but far enough out that you escape the cruise ship crowds. The free parking is a godsend if you’re renting a golf cart (which, trust me, you should), and couples seem to absolutely adore this spot. I can see why — there’s something romantic about having the beach practically to yourselves in the early morning.

The Room Experience

My room was simple but thoughtfully done, with that breezy Caribbean style that doesn’t try too hard. The beds are comfortable enough, and honestly, you’re spending most of your time on the beach or exploring anyway. What struck me was how clean everything was — sometimes these smaller properties can be hit or miss, but the housekeeping here really knows what they’re doing. The air conditioning works well too, which matters more than you might think when you’re dealing with Belizean humidity.

Beach Life and Atmosphere

The beach access is where this place really shines. You walk out your door, cross a small patch of sand, and boom — you’re in crystal-clear water that’s perfect for swimming or snorkeling. I spent hours just floating around, watching the occasional boat drift by. The staff is genuinely friendly without being pushy, and they know the area well enough to give you solid recommendations for diving spots or local restaurant gems that aren’t in the guidebooks. There’s a laid-back energy here that I found pretty addictive.

Look, Caye Casa isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and that’s exactly why it works so well. You get that authentic Belizean beach experience without paying resort prices, and the location really is unbeatable for exploring both the island and the incredible reef system just offshore.   Great place and great location. Jake, Shane, and the rest of the staff were awesome. They made us feel at home, welcomed us with cold beer, and Jake got us a good deal on a golf cart. Not many places with up close beachfront views like that. Felt like the tropical paradise it is. Sitting at the end of the pier with drinks in hand watching the moonrise and listening to the music next door was a vibe. The bakery was very close (literally right behind the property) and had delicious ham and cheese sandwiches and sausage rolls. Very short walk to town via the beach where we found many great pier restaurants. Rooms were very quiet, even with the live music at the nearby pier. Do yourself a favor. Book here.

  The accommodations were wonderful – bed comfortable, AC very nice and gold, filtered water available in the room as well as silverware /plates/cups. The staff made us feel at home. Shane and Jake were incredible! They were extremely accommodating and helped us rent a golf cart, schedule snorkeling (way cheaper than we found it elsewhere), and organize shuttles to and from the airport. They were in close contact to make sure our stay was perfect. The location is within walking distance to tons of restaurants and businesses, which gives you great access around the city. Also the rooms were nice and quiet!

  There is nothing I didn’t like. From the cleanliness to the comfortability. I can’t say enough good things about this place. The GM is good people and Shane makes this place even better. We felt like long time friends staying here. Everyone is so kind and helpful. If every property was like this-we would all be better for it. When you come to San Pedro-you must stay here!!!
