First Impressions

When I first pulled up to Casa del Rai, honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from the outside — it’s tucked away on Laguna Drive in a quiet residential area of San Pedro. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t need to shout about themselves. This four-star boutique hotel has that understated charm that immediately puts you at ease, and the fact that there’s parking right on-site is already a win in my book — trust me, finding a spot in San Pedro can be a real headache.

What I love about Casa del Rai’s location is that it strikes this perfect balance between being close to everything but not right in the thick of tourist chaos. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from the main strip with all the bars and restaurants, but when you want to escape back to your room, it actually feels peaceful. I mean, couples seem to get this — they consistently rate the location super high, and I can see why. It’s romantic without being isolated, if that makes sense.

The Accommodations

The rooms here are what I’d call thoughtfully designed rather than flashy. Everything feels intentional — from the way the morning light filters through the windows to the little touches that show someone actually cares about your comfort. The beds are genuinely comfortable (and I’m picky about mattresses), and there’s enough space to spread out without feeling like you’re rattling around in an oversized suite. What really impressed me was how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re not far from the action.

What Sets It Apart

Here’s the thing about Casa del Rai — it’s not trying to be the biggest or most elaborate place on the island, and that’s exactly what makes it special. The staff genuinely seems to know what they’re doing, and recent guests have been rating it consistently high for good reason. You get that boutique hotel attention to detail without the boutique hotel attitude, if you know what I mean. Plus, being able to park your rental car safely right at the hotel? That’s worth its weight in gold when you’re exploring Belize.

After staying here, I totally understand why Casa del Rai keeps getting such high ratings from visitors. It’s one of those places that just works — you’re close enough to walk to dinner and drinks, far enough away to actually relax, and the whole experience feels more authentic than some of the larger resort-style places. Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway or just want a solid base for exploring Ambergris Caye, this place delivers without any of the pretense. Sometimes the best recommendation is simply that you’d happily stay here again, and honestly, I would.

  everything was good. hosts are awesome. they can organise transfers from international airports as well. a person with the sign picking you up is a big help if its your first time. they have there own golf cart rentals available, saves a bit of hassle going into town and they have permanent parks on site. property has a locked gate as well

  Everything was well taken care of, super clean and the staff was AMAZING!! It is a great location. Close to Wayo’s and Hurricane Ceviche’s and an amazing bakery is just down the street a tiny bit. You can watch both the sunrise and sunset from this property. They also have golf cart rentals and they pick you up at the airport and take you back. Could not have been any easier. Aileen, Latisha and Darwin all made it very memorable. They even have some little turtles.

  Very nice apartment. The swimming pool on the roof offers an incredible 360 view! Darwin and the staff are really nice and helpful.

  The rooms were spacious, fully equipped with kitchen, a/c, fans, tvs in both rooms, wi-fi, two terraces, a rooftop pool, great sea views, etc. The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, they offered complimentary pick up and drop off, and a big bottle of water in each room. The apartment is located across all the famous beach bars and restaurants, and also close to grocery stores, fruit markets and bakeries. They offer extra towels for the pool free of charge, which was a nice detail.

  I really like that the property was located close to the restaurants, stores and water taxi. I also like the Golf carts that was available to rent. Darwin was awesome. He answered every question we had and was there to assist us along the way.

  Beautiful rooftop view. Amazing staff from the minute our water taxi pulled up to the island. If I come back to Belize this is the only place I would ever stay. We came here and met strangers and are leaving with family. Perfect location as well. Couple minute walk to the beach front. Fruit market across the street as well as bakery and grocery all in walking distance. The golf carts they offer which you will need are perfect and was very easy to set up with them. I can’t say enough good things about the property and staff.
